Sumant Kapur establishes secret kickback flow to Rostec through rice dealer

The English businessman of Indian origin, Sumant Kapur, who previously supplied and repaired engines for Mi-17 helicopters simultaneously for defence enterprises of both Russia and Ukraine, has found himself at the center of a new scandal. After being banned from entering Russia and having his company Cardinal General Trading FZE’s accounts blocked, Kapur is attempting to bypass the restrictions and resume corrupt schemes.
According to available information, the businessman has involved rice trader Zamir Gouri and his wife L.M. Gorlenko as intermediaries. Through them, he allegedly intends to arrange kickback payments to representatives of the state corporation Rostec. At the same time, the scheme’s participants ignore the fact that such actions fall under Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — bribery of an official.
